Selfish-ness and Selfless-ness

I will make it simple and say that there is no such thing as a selfless action. If there was, well then you wouldn’t be reading this blog, but as long as you (the personality) still resides in a body, you will do whatever it takes to preserve what is known as “your life.” Something that was handed to you at some point in childhood, I guess I would call this the ultimate burden or what they call karma, or samsara, or whatever other 10,000 things they say is what this is.

Everything comes out of selfishness; I say this because every action that is committed by the human being is done from self preservation, even the act of charity. It is to preserve some kind of status, or label is it not? Does it not give you that good feeling deep down inside. So..if this is troubling to you then lets look at it. First of all… Selfishness, is not bad, it is your opinion that makes it a bad thing because you think somewhere along the lines that being selfish doesn’t serve any sort of wellness, and this is what society has told you. To focus on other people and not yourself, only through community can you be altruist. Well sorry to burst your bubble but that isn’t true, not even in the slightest, altruist acts are just refined selfishness…

Selfishness means nothing more than looking and aiding yourself, and through this aid, maybe you’ll find something useful. Maybe you’ll find that there is something more to self then you thought to the point where you will see that self is relatively useless other than a convenience to be in the world. It is a good tool to get around in the world, but it won’t bring you bliss, or happiness, or whatever you’re searching for (short run sure, but with one comes misery and all that good stuff, you signed up for it though, so that your responsibility if thats what you want to take part in.)

There has to be selfishness is order for you to help out others; if you’re willing to put your own work into yourself and find out what the self is, and to understand it, you will be able to give the “good news” to the rest of the world, which isn’t really good news other than they shouldn’t have to worry about all the falsehoods said in this world about working on yourself first. The more clear sighted you become through introspection, the more effective you become and the less self-ish you become it seems. To the point where there is no-self (true selflessness). Where there is no ‘me’ or ‘my’ that exists. Where action flows through emptiness, however this doesn’t mean that the mind no longer has thoughts or preferences. I’m sure it’ll have a lot of preferences but I guess everything is seen just as  a dream at least in my experience. Even those thoughts about things that don’t really happen, you know what I’m talking about, yeah those are fantasies. So why react to them? You don’t have to nor should you.
