Today I’m going to be stepping out of my typical role and take up a new role. I’ve been enjoying over the past couple of weeks a new book that talks about energy medicine, which includes manipulating the bodies energy for better health, better flow of life, correcting illness, and preventative measure. This book happens to include practices on strengthening meridians (energy flow highways), chakras, auras, radiant circuits, etc.
Today I’m going to be talking about the main areas of the Root Chakra which many consider the very first of the seven main chakra. I’m not going to say anything about their eastern names because frankly, I don’t really care about their eastern name, nor want to make it complicated to people just wanting the information about what this chakra is involved in.
Aside from this the Root Chakra is place in the pelvic region (the sexual organs) of male or female and is usually the source of much energy. Here is a little bit about it:
Root Chakra Color:
I won’t talk too much about this because I have no direct experience of this. I don’t see chakra color nor will claim to see any specific color, so I can’t really talk on this at length with any sort of direct experience. However it is said that the main color of this chakra is red, but has been reported to sometime take a golden color when their is genuine goodness and the other of Energy Medicine has stated that there are sometimes silver bands around the chakra if a particular person seems to be guided by a spiritual teacher.
Things to be Aware of with Root Chakra:
This chakra is a source of a lot of power and is said that this chakra contains the blueprint or information of a persons past lives (Donna Eden describes that there are multiple layers to a chakra and this information resides within the seventh layer usually). However I cannot confirm any of this because I have neither seen this nor been working on friends and family long enough to have any such experience. The root actually is at the base of the spine but floats above the sexual organs of a man or woman. This chakra does the following:
- carries our life force up the spine
- down the legs for support
Common Areas of Life for Root:
- earliest life experiences (and attach to this chakra before the brain even develops) (past life experiences also accumulate here)
- even past ancestral traumatic experiences can reside here.
- Referred to as a pilot light and it directs energy both internally and externally, up and out. (Donna Eden pg. 161)
- When it sends the energy up it fuels or lights all the other chakras so having a good connection is necessary (and a strong root chakra)
- This chakra when exhibited from an outward stance can be seen as a sense of safety and groundedness (without this lit a person may seem disconnected or isn’t present.)
Some things the root chakra drives us to do:
This chakra typical drives us to do our very natural basic needs such as eating, acquiring things, hoarding, a drive to stay safe or to keep ourselves out of harms way, and to even protect family members and loved ones. This chakra also deals with our very basic feelings of honor, loyalty, religious ferver, and ethnic conflict.
The cause of a weak root chakra:
From what I can tell it seems that conflicting messages on upbringing between family members can have an affect on the root chakra. Also it is explained that since some people seem to feel a division in themselves and don’t quiet understand themselves to their fullest potential, that this could have an impact and may hinder the root chakra.
This chakra seems to be one of the main sources of sexuality in comparison to the other chakras. Although the other chakras do serve an important part in the sex drive (like the womb chakra which seems to be the creative chakra), it is the root chakra that seems most of the magic happens. Every chakra is unique in its own way and working on the lower chakras (root being the “lowest” but not necessarily meaning the least important) is just as important as working on the higher chakras (like the crown chakra)
If you have any other questions about this chakra or any method of seeing this chakra deeper in your energy practices, please feel free to post your direct experiences, as I have just started practicing my and close friends and families chakras with the techniques learned from Donna Edens book!
