Ignorance is Bliss: Is it though?

I seem to be seeing this phrase used quite often, people use it in common place usually when bad things are happening, like you see a man murder a bunch of people or molesting a child; you see this on the news and all anyone can ever say is that ignorance is bliss…. Or perhaps you don’t watch the news (which I tend to not do nor have no desire to) people could say that ignorance is bliss… but is it really bliss?

When I look into this word bliss, I immediate have this feeling that this word is utter rubbish, a sugary word that people use to create some sense of “This is how I feel, pay attention to me for I exist right now as this persona.” That is the feeling I get from the word, and I don’t see it actually being real just like I don’t see enlightenment as being a real thing, maybe a fantasy at best. I could get poetic on ya and say, sure it exists, but then a mess-load of disclaimers go down to meet some expectation of “advaita” and how non-duality is suppose to work. It’s really important to know the mechanics of duality to truly see, because duality is not actually about separation at all, the opposites are not really opposites, they are the same thing.

Anyway back to the ramblings on bliss, pulling you back in I am. (yoda esque :P) So this bliss word doesn’t exist and ignorance certainly doesn’t mean this word. I would say that ignorance is more closely related to darkness or non-seeing and separation. However although I say that it’s more closely to these two rather than blissfulness, you can’t leave out the fact that it can be the other, there is nothing saying it couldn’t. Ignorance like I said before is not a bad thing, it is a lack of seeing, not a lack of knowledge. By lack of seeing, there is a high potential of fear to overcome the persona, and through the fear projecting on the persona, starts this whole wheel of walking in the dark as if you were a blind man, without the benefits of actually being a blind man (acute hearing, touch, etc.) We can point this all back to the dreamstate, and from what I can see is that all human beings start out in this ignorant state at some point, it is like maturing from a baby, into an adolescent, into a teen, into and adult. The thing is, is that most people don’t ever get out of being no more than an adolescent, they are stuck in that state, or they choose not to move on.

For some people I can imagine that they may just want to stay in the dream state, I mean, if it’s a good dream, why wake up from it? There is no need to and it’s not particularly bad or good to be in a dream state, there is just no use to wake up. For some though that grow tired of this endless dreaming they begin to send signals to themselves, it begins to show them this urge that they are something more than this dream, and that they are in a dream. A lot of the time though, we catch a glimpse of what it means to wake up from the dream and it scares us shitless, because we’ll notice that waking up means to die, not physically… but the best example that can be given is the caterpillar going into its cocoon, and coming out a butterfly.

This motivation of hushing ourselves back into the dream state is out of fear of unknowing everything we have come to know or losing all that is knowing. All those concepts, beliefs, emotions, likes, dislikes, what we think is bad or good. All of those things are useless to the awake, they mean absolutely nothing which is where the price of truth is everything. However what it actually is, is nothing…. because all of those things, were of no value to you in the first place, they all crumble under scrutiny, hold no infinite structure.

What I’m saying is that bliss is not known to human beings and when you reach this bliss you will not call it bliss, for it no longer needs a label to confine it.

  2. who is there to wake up?

  3. What is this smiling, and laughing quietly with itself?
