Right View : You Will Go On Missing.

I have recently been listening to a lot of Adyashanti
works lately (i’ve been switching between him and Osho) and have been looking into something that seems to ring true on some level…

We will know its true intellectually until it goes beyond the concept of truth.

He said something that has for whatever reason stuck with me since I last heard it and that was, “If you have right view, the rest is sure to follow.” He is referring to the Buddhist 8 fold path in this context, which is right action, right conduct, right blah blah blah, etc. You don’t need to know all the rights to know the most important one, and the most important one seems to be the most difficult… This comes with good reason though… because how can you have right anything else, if you do not have the right view? If you are unaware that you currently have the wrong view, how can you have right action out of wrong view?

The answer is most certainly that you cannot have the right action or any other right if you are currently thinking that you are in right view. Because right view is not something you know intellectually… It sounds this way but it’s not because then again if thought of right view is present… then there is a wrong view. When it has to be clear that all views are just as “wrong” as yours is up until the point where one drops all wrong views, and then becomes the right view.

So first one has to see that their views are filtered… they come from every other collection of information in this world, and have never been yours no matter how hard the me has tried to personalize them. They are not yours… you can observe them, sure, and you can put the tone that is seemingly yours on them but they are not… Next time you are talking to someone and then something inside gets defensive, watch that defensiveness… Why is it so? Who is the one beind defensive, is it your mom? or your dad? or the religion that you take part in? Also why is it being so defensive, you can find out alot about yourself inwardly by just doing this little technique, you will soon find out that all views that you may have had are not who you are, have never been, and are meaningless to your growth or your coming out of illusion. This is not to say however that anyone grows in who they naturally are, what you are has always been there, we have just illuded ourselves into believe that we are something else, have to be something else (like the body or mind) and thus attached ourselves to the concept of the body/mind.

A man will go on having the wrong view up until the point where he re-discovers that awareness is there and that he has wrong view… and at this point it will be dropped and right view will take prescidence. At that point all other rights automatically fall into place, because how can they be wrong if right view is prsent… how can dark be if light is present? It is the same kind of thing, but up until that point you will go on missing it every single moment of your life. Existence presents its freedom to you every single moment but we go on missing it because we are almost never in the present moment…

This is another point, you will never re-discover right view until you are receptive presently, not hung up with the past or attached to a future outcome. I can’t stress this enough that dwelling on the past will not do you any good, how will it change the past if you only think about it, fantasize about it. What good does it do you at all, to withhold your own happiness because of something that is a mere memory. You either have a really good time or a traumatic time, both are equally as meaningless to look back on as they are both just memories at this point.. the only moment you have is right now.

Also future thinking is of relatively no use as well, it is a what if situation or an “if only” situation. The moment has not come yet but you wonder what would happen if this this and this happen. The future will never come though, it will always be the present and if you are always day dreaming about the future you will always miss it, because the only moment you live in is the now, so take advantage of that! Enjoy things that are there with you, that you have everything you need in this moment right now.
