Monkey Salvation for a Fish

“what on earth are you doing?” said I
to the monkey when I saw him lift a
fish from the water and place it
on a tree.

“I am saving it from drowning” was the
reply.

These parables com from the book “The Song of the Bird” by Anthony de Mello. I will be posting parables now from time to time when I don’t have time to write down full blogs about specific thoughts that occur.

You can check out the book HERE!

Parables are meant to reach each individual on their path where they currently are, and they mean something different for each person allowing them to grow.

Thoughts that are attached to this parable, in respect to me are this:

“That everyone has to seek for themselves the path in which they believe to be right, they cannot force another to seek their path for what may be right for them is not necessarily right for another. Don’t be blinded by your own ignorance and enquire about where the belief comes from.”

So true… I wish people would see this already…

Unfortunately sometimes others perceptions and views affect our lives in such ways that we simply cannot stand back and let them go… As a friend of mine would say… What kind of people you’re surrounded by matters a lot.

  2. agreed, i too wish that others would see it but it really comes down to us not even “teaching” in a traditional sense but to show it through action. Thats how most masters do it, not through words, because there is only limit to this, but to show through action as that undefinable factor may take place in anothers heart in which they cannot explain but can feel with every sense of being and know that its Truth.

You’re right, they can affect you greatly if we allow ourselves to be illuded by them but we also have the power to turn that illuding into a clarity. Its been there all along and very beautiful. Thanks lizzy! 🙂 ❤
